For the past 26 years, government instructor Tim Biggs has taken students to the Montana YMCA Youth Government program. This year Biggs took 17 students to Helena from May 8th through May 11th. This program provides student with meaningful introduction to the democratic process through a simulation of the governmental process as a senator or representative. Students write bills and present them to get a real-life understanding of how a bill becomes a law. The program started in Montana in 1970 with the first Youth Legislature held in the Spring of 1971. It serves over 300 students today.
Mission students brought home the following accolades:
- Zane Foster - Outstanding Representative of the Year
- Dakota Matt - Majority Whip in the House of Representatives
- Sydney Allard - Gold Medal for Best Bill
- Zane Foster - Gold Medal for Best Bill
- All Boys - Best Dressed Delegation
