Holiday Spectacular Decks the Halls of Mission

by Robert "Bob" Lewandowski

The middle school and high school bands and choir decked the halls for the holiday season with their performances last Tuesday evening. Director Kendal Anderson did an outstanding job preparing the students for this celebration. There were bitter-sweet moments when Anderson talked about her accompanist, Lindsay Johnson. Johnson has been her accompanist since she was in fourth grade. Lindsay is a senior this year and will be greatly missed next year.

As for the band and choir performances, they were AWESOME! The kids did a great job. It is always spectacular to see the holiday spirit get such a boost from our youth.

Do You Want To Build A Snowman?

by Robert "Bob" Lewandowski

Do you want to build a snowman? As tempting as that may seem, you didn't even have to go outside to embrace the winter holidays. The St. Ignatius Elementary students brought all of the spender of the North Pole right here to Mission. There were snowmen, reindeer, elves, life-size toys, snowflakes, solders, ballerinas, and last, but not in the least, Santa Claus. All of this and much more in a one hour musical production. It was AWESOME!

I couldn't help but enjoy our kids. They were having so much fun and doing a great job presenting The North Pole musical.

Warning: after viewing the photos, you may just want to build a snowman!

Okay...bye!

Montana Youth Government

For the past 26 years, government instructor Tim Biggs has taken students to the Montana YMCA Youth Government program. This year Biggs took 17 students to Helena from May 8th through May 11th. This program provides student with meaningful introduction to the democratic process through a simulation of the governmental process as a senator or representative. Students write bills and present them to get a real-life understanding of how a bill becomes a law. The program started in Montana in 1970 with the first Youth Legislature held in the Spring of 1971. It serves over 300 students today.

Mission students brought home the following accolades:
  • Zane Foster - Outstanding Representative of the Year
  • Dakota Matt - Majority Whip in the House of Representatives
  • Sydney Allard - Gold Medal for Best Bill
  • Zane Foster - Gold Medal for Best Bill
  • All Boys - Best Dressed Delegation
Congratulations students! You've "represented" our school and community well! Great JOB!

Christmas Program Results in All Smiles

The kindergaten though fifth grade Christmas and Holiday Concert was great. From decorations to individual performances, the evening built an atmosphere of the season.

I have included 34 pictures from last nights performance. It was so nice to be a part of community. These types of celebrations bring everyone together. It would be hard to walk away from last night's performance with anything but a smile. Happy children have that affect on adults.

Congratulations to the music staff: Dixie Daniels and Kendal Anderson. Special thanks to all of the classroom teachers for their assistance and supervision. Most of all, WELL DONE MISSION STUDENTS for taking pride in excellence! As said at our first assembly of the year: "Learning takes work," and your work paid off at the concert.

Practice, Practice, Practice: Elementary Christmas Concert

If you want to get in the mood for the holiday season, just attend your church or school's annual Holiday Concert. Seasonal songs and traditional Christmas songs can put a person in the right frame of mind. Nothing is more enjoyable than watching youth get up in front of an audience and perform.

Tonight is the Elementary Christmas Concert here at St. Ignatius. I found a few minutes this afternoon to go to the gymnasium and listen to the music and take a few pictures. I hope you enjoy the photos. The Concert begins at 7:00 PM. All student need to be there and seated by 6:45 PM.

See you there!
